Sal I must start of saying muel is a great idea.I myself am a steel knut.I would love to try out the new posible up and coming blade steels.I like the idea that all of the models are going to be the same and there aren't shealths or handles to keeps costs down.My question to you is will spyderco be selling handles and sheaths separately.I would be nice if their were different handle options. It would be great for collecters, you could have a finished knife of your favorite blade steel wheither it's going to be used in the industry or not.The blade steels that aren't used will become exotic and the steels used will also become collecters items because they were the first tested before any other model.

thx for your time

Hi Gine,

We have no plans to make the handles or sheaths. We had hoped that some "out there" could do that. If we had to make complete knives, the costs would be much higher and we would have to drop other models to make room for them.

I believe "Scott's sheaths" is making sheaths, but I've not heard of someone making handles.

Click on Makers on the top of the blade forums page, scroll down to STR, back yard knife mechanic. STR build you handles out of anything you want. STR is very good, he did some work on a lava for me that turned out great.

I'll second that, STR is a stand up fella and his work is outstanding. When you go to his forum check out the Spyderco mods picture thread there is some great stuff in there.

Like Sal stated, Scott is already making sheaths and some are doing handles from paracord to G10 or wood.

I'm going to try making some nice wood handles myself ~ ; - )

Can't wait for the next Mule to be announced !
