Sal, any chance for a Police with FRN handles? Had a steel handle Police years ago, sold it, could'nt get used to the handles. Gary

Hi Gary,

we've thought about it.

To date, we've not had any variation of the Police model be successful enough for continuance, except for the "classic" stainless model. Tooling up for an FRN version is expensive so more assurance is necessary.

We've got a Police3 design in the works. We'll hide n' watch reaction to it.

Fantastic news.
I can't wait to see a wave feature on a Police...

Did someone say a WAVED police? My goodness that would be sweet! with G10 or Carbon Fiber handles? wooooooah now I will just have to ask everyone to back away slowly so i can get mine first:D

I guess the police 1 was stainless handled.
What was the police 2 model?
It would be interesting for a police 3 model, waved would be nice for sure . & maybe another G-10 or Cf handle?
We'll have to wait & see!
regards,Rick.

i told the story of me having a minor problem with one of my spydies to more than a few people and how the owner of the company (Sal) wrote back to me and fixed it for me. no matter who i told the story to they were all amazed that i actually got a hold of the owner and that he had the time and decency to not only get back to me but to make sure that my problem was taken care of. this thread is just another example of what kind of guy Sal is. i just thought i should post it up on here. i just posted about some crappy customer service one of the forum brothers was getting from santa fe stoneworks (in the good, the bad, and the ugly section). i figure if i am going to write about bad customer service i should write about some good service too. sorry i wasnt trying to hijack your thread Gary.

p.s. i cant wait to see the new police model.

Thanks Sal, I'll have to check out the Police3 when it comes out. No problem Tony, I like read all the replies. Thanks, Gary

My guess would be the G-10 model was a Police II. Even with the full flat grind, it still didn't sell well enough to stay in the line-up. Why? The only reasons I can see are the additional thickness of the G-10 scales make it a bit less comfortable to carry (especially in waistband) and that extra quarter inch of blade length that puts the Police model over the 4" legal limit in some places, this state among them.

Here's hoping for G-10 scales...

YES SIR!!! Mr. Glesser I do hope that you all are going to offer the New Police with G-10 handle scales. I just know in my gut that a G-10 Police will do well the second time around ;)

I bet a titanium model would sell well too. G-10 HANDLE SPOKEN HERE!!!!

OH?? Did I mention a FLAT GRIND BLADE would also be nice?? hint, hint

The first model was the P.I.G. No chamfers, lock release farther forward.

The current model would be the 2, although there have been many material variants, they are all essentially the same pattern. No new tooling.

Eggzackly my thoughts. The Police is the Police because of it's slimness. Make it thicker and it ain't the same knife. A higher grind and an acid etch would be the only acceptable change as far as I'm concerned. It's nice to have a huge honkin knife and still be able to get your hand in your pocket.

Police 3 w/G-10 or Carbon fiber with steel liners like endura 4's,full flat ground, and 4 way clip
