Question for Spyderco

I have a backorder with Knifecenter for a Lum Chinese ZDP-189 and I am sure many more here have similar orders with various distributers. Knifecenter said they would have theirs mid September which of course has passed.

Can anyone at Spyderco help us waiting customers with some updated status on the knives? I have that money slotted for the the Lum but if it is doubtful I will ever get it I would like to buy another knife. I really want the Lum but if i am waiting in vain I would like to know.

I'm not with Spyderco, but as many of the ZDP Lums as I've seen on eBay, I'd suggest buying one elsewhere and cancelling your order with Knifecenter if they haven't gotten one to you yet.

In part due to the ZDP-189, there are limits as to how many of these can be made each month. We're expecting shipments in quantities of 200-300. As we get them, we'll ship them. We do our best to ship orders, in the order we received them. We also take in to consideration the quantity. Meaning we try to maintain a level playing field. So Distributors and Dealers may not receive the full quantity they ordered. This is especially so with Sprint runs. We want to be sure, to the best of our ability, that everyone has a fair share. Our Distributors and Dealers are aware of this practice.

I'm sorry, I can't tell you if you're waiting in vain, there's just too many variables. One of which would be where you are on their waiting list (top or bottom), also how many do they have on the waiting list.

I can tell you that many Dealers purchase direct from us as well as our Distributors.
