Question for the balisong people

I've never had a strong interest in balisongs - sure, I had one or two when I was in my teens, but that experience didn't leave me with the knowledge to answer this:
How much "slop" should there be? Will a new, quality balisong be fairly (something), with slop developing with use? Or should it be there from the start.

My question stems from looking over a few older pieces in my collection, specifically a black pearl handled balisong (shown below). There is a small amount of blade play when full open (handles together, but not locked); but considerably more when the handles aren't together, which I assume is somewhat normal...I'm just trying to get a feel for how "used" this one is.

(I apologize for not doing a better job of cleaning the oil off the blade before this picture)

Thats normal.
Especially with pin construction on the pivots.
Pivots with bushings help. But will loosen with flipping anyways.
But are adjustable. ( I readjust mine every other month) depends on the frequency.
Classic pin style construction just wears out.
