I recently purchased a Mini Grip for my son and after playing with it I've kinda been smitten with the axis lock again. I owned one of the first axis lock knives, a 710 in like 1998 and a full size Grip in like 2007. Since then I've been more into heavier use knives with thicker blades like Hinderers, ZT's, Striders, etc.

Now I want to get an Axis lock for myself again. Which Axis lock knives have blades thicker than .130" (preferably .160") and a blade point which is in line with the handle midpoint, like a Sebenza or Umnimzaan.

I looked at the Adames and it's too heavy. Is there anything like a mini Adames? I looked at the Striker and it would be ideal but the blade is only .120". I also found one other axis knife "the Loco" with around .160" thick blade but the handle to blade was too curved and put the tip very low.

Grip-300SN-Nakamura

BM300SN

Specifications
Blade Length: 3.05"
Blade Thickness: 0.145"
Blade Material: 154CM Stainless Steel
Blade Hardness: 58-61HRC
Blade Style: Drop-Point with Ambidextrous Thumb-Studs
Pocket Clip: Tip-up, sliver, deep-carry
Lock Mechanism: AXIS
Overall Length: 7.15"
Closed Length: 4.10"
Class: Blue
300SN shape is almost identical with Grip with added choil, grooves and flipper. Operates the same.. but with flipper that operates like an Axis, so the same also.

Pretty close in handles thickness too, but with full liners and beefy blade.

Common criticism is the blade is too short (for beef) and ugly like having an ugly baby.

It also has your name written all over it. Haha

That's great, thanks! Not such a fan of the looks of that monster flipper, but how does it flip?

I also did some searching after my post and found there is a HK Axis lock that looks like it might also be along the lines of what I'm looking for. Model #14715bk

Benchmade 908bk-1501. Its blade is only .124" thick but its cpm-m4. Just as tough/strong (if not much stronger) as most blades that would be .14-.16 in a stainless steel. And only weights 4.38oz for a full size blade.

Next to the CRK Inkosi.

Honestly, I would take the 908 with a .124" M4 blade over the Inkosi with a .14" S35VN blade for high abuse. Not becasue the CRK is a work of art but because I have more faith in the M4 steel to take anything I can imagine throwing at it. Not that S35VN couldnt. It is proabably the toughest most capable steel in the stainless catergory. But M4 is... M4 :D

Overall Length: 8.29 "
Closed Length: 4.72"
Blade Length: 3.57
Blade Thickness: 0.124"
Handle Thickness: 0.470"
Weight: 4.38 oz.
Pocket Clip: Reversible, Black, Tip-Up
Lock Mechanism: AXIS
Blade Material: CPM-M4, Black Cerakote
Blade Hardness: 62-64HRC
Blade Style: Drop Point

My BM mini-Grip: a doug ritter with custom scales. Love it. IMO the best knife BM makes is the mini-Grip.

I am thinking that may be my next knife. It is a beauty, and I am a big fan of m4. Seems like it is reasonable to sharpen and retains a great edge for me.
That is a fine looking knife!

It is beautiful! Its definitely one of my all time favorites! Thinking Ill have to purchase a few more before they run out, to have later in my life/give to my kids.

Feel confident in this blade to be able to cut through a car door like a can opener :D

Thanks for all the input. I actually just ordered a HK Axis made by Benchmade. It was less than $90 delivered, has a .146" thick D2 blade, and weighs less than 5oz. I think it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for...

My absolute favorite heavy-use/overbuilt Benchmade is the Vicar.

I've owned two, and they're perfect. Total tank. Unbelievably smooth. Only problem is it's a titanium frame lock....

Contego! Weighs under 6 ounces with a 4" blade of M4. There's also a KnifeWorks exclusive Contego with M390 stainless steel.

I really should get one of these before they dry up.

I plan to get a few more once they get around to 50-100 left. They're moving slow right now, only a couple a week. Too many other "time sensitives" on my list currently :D

D2 mmmmm.. :D

Yeah, plenty of time on those and the custom mini grip sheepsfoot g10 m4.
My can't miss is the native maxamet.

Building one, it's the only way I know to get a sheepsfoot/thumbhole in m4.

Oh ok. Would love a mini grip in M4 @ a non custom price. But it would look good :D

Mine would be a blacked out M4 drop point with white grips. Some day. Too many others take priority for now.

Since sage1's in m4 don't exist, I figure the mini grip sheepsfoot is next best thing. $45 more for m4 over 154cm ain't bad, well worth it to me.
