I am planning my vacation for next year and seem to have a couple of choices.
One is a week with Gil Hibben, or a week in Washington AK doing Handles and Guards. The cost is about the same. I have been to the bladesmithing class in Washington AK and enjoyed it very much. If anyone has been to Mr. Hibben’s class I would love to hear you thoughts.

Thanks
Allen

I didn't know there was a blade school in washington Alaska. I would take the week with Gil Hibben.

spend the week with Gil Hibben. The school is great but the one on one time will be the best IMHO.

I am assuming this would be one on one with Gil. If so I feel that would be a much better value for the $$. The handles and guards class is great and the instructors are all wonderful teachers. The handles and guards will be there for a very long time and you can always go in the future. Gil is now in his 70's and unfortunately eventually he will have to stop making. I hope this will be a very long time in coming. How many of us can say we have been taught by a member of the Cutlery Hall of Fame?? These are just some of my thoughts.

As much as I would love to learn to make better handles and guards, a week with Gil would beat that out anyday. If you're lucky he might even give you some throwing lessons... knife as well as human :-)

Yes- I think a week with Gil would be very educational. Has anyone gone to his week long class? If so how much one-on-one did you get? I know the pictures of knives made by students was very impressive!
Thanks
Allen
