Question for Those of You Who Own a Benchmade Presidio

Hey everyone!

So I just got a new Benchmade Presidio in the mail, and overall it's pretty good. The pivot is a little tight and sticky, but that will wear in I'm sure. However, I have a concern about the clip screws; they seem too long and are protruding into the inner part where the blade folds into, or whatever you call it. I don't think they touch the blade, or at least I hadn't noticed any wear yet. Does anyone else have this issue? Do you think this is a big deal?

Thanks!

Pretty common on Benchmades and completely ridiculous. It's not a real problem, but a silly oversight for a company to make on knives as expensive as theirs.

You could always pull them out and shorten them a bit.

I don't know if it's just this model, but none of my many other Benchmades have this issue.

A lot of their models have screws that stick through the liners. It's not always the clip screws. Sometimes it's a screw holding the scale.

I don't want to return it...it's a good manual replacement when I travel to a place where autos are restricted and I can't carry my AFO.

Benchmade has been awesome in the past...maybe I'll give them a call and see if I can get some shorter screws. I don't have the tools to shorten them myself, and although it might be easy, I'm sure I'll find a way to screw it up.

By the way...anyone know if the lock springs are the same size across different models?

The Omega springs are the same through out their product line, to the best of my knowledge. All of the models I have owned use the same spring.

As for your clip screws, it is not a big deal, really, but, call BM if it is bothersome. I know it would drive me nuts. I am anal about stuff like that.

I'm not worried about the cosmetics of it bugging me, but they are awfully close to the blade and I'm afraid of wear if the blade isn't perfectly centered.

never noticed that, i took a look at mine and they protrude at all. i bought mine a few years back though, and mine is the tanto version

You must have the auto version; if I'm not mistaken, they never made a manual tanto version. How do you like it? That's next on my list before they sell out after being discontinued...

It kind of surprised me when I had ordered an arrow clip for the 625 Crawford and they actually sent the right size screws which are shorter than the standard ones which would press into the steel liner pushing the scale outward while making the knife next to impossible to open. Like a makeshift lock of sorts. It was a tip down.

I needed to buy the little stubby torx screws, flat top. BM sent me button top stubby screws.

Crazy. I know.
