I'm getting the funds together for an umnumzaan. My question to those who carry and use one regularly is: Have you ever had any lock up issues? I've had bad luck with titanium frame locks in the past. Almost every one I had developed "lock rock", where the lock slips toward the un locked position when pressure is applied to the spine of the blade. Never failed, but still annoying. So if you love your zaan and it locks up solid, help me feel confident in my purchase lol

I have carried an Umnumzaan every day for about two years or so now and have never had any sort of issues with the lock, or anything else for that matter.

Nope, never.

I have experienced that with other brands, but never with any of my CRKs.

Never had an issue with my Umnumzaan. It has been flawless.

Daily carry a 'zaan. No issues of any kind. The only folder I've ever had that didn't have to have the pivot tension adjusted routinely. I'm watching for a good deal on one to set back for my son. He's only 3, but I plan to give him a 'zaan when he's of age. Best folder I've ever seen in person.

Been carrying and using my Zaan daily for almost a year now. No problems at all. It has worked perfectly. Just regular maintenance, cleaning, lubing, sharpening... locks up rock solid. You can rely on the umnumzaan.

Heres a pic of er for those that wanna see:

Beautiful aint she? ;)

The thing about the umnumzaan imo, is the aesthetics cant be fully appreciated until it is held and seen in its full glory... it looks way better IRL, than in pics. This goes more for this knife than most others I think.

Just so you know, the above pic was taken a couple weeks ago, after extensive hard use. You can hardly tell its been through what it has. It is just so damn rugged!

My next CRK will definately be an UmNum, and I have never heard of A crk with lock rock. I would say get one and then u can let us all know how great it really is!!

Thanks guys I feel pretty confident about purchasing one now! I will let you know how it works out.

Buy with confidence. I've used my Umnumzaan in lieu of a hammer to drive some nails a couple of times. There's only a very slightly noticeable divot on the back of the blade tang as a result. It's probably the only knife I've handled that I would say has zero blade play.

No problems ever, locks up solid every time.

It's well built and a great piece of engineering.

Huh, I've had the exact opposite luck with titanium framelocks.

The umnumzaans i've had and used all were rock solid, after hard cutting, the lock actually moves a little bit tighter about a mm, but then unlocks easy and smooth as glass.

Just out of interest, this pic shows the lock up on 3 Umnumzaans. The knife on the right has been my EDC for about two years, the knife in the middle has had some use and the knife on the left is mint and unused. As you can see the lock up is the same on all of them. The lock doesn't wear at any sort of remotely noticable rate. It's not going to develop the same issues one sees with some other Ti frame lock knives. I have had Ti frame locks that ran out past 100% in a little over a year, I have had liner locks from the same company do that as well. The lock up on my Sebenzas and Umnumzaans has sat unchanged regardless of the time they have been used for. :)

While I've only had my Zaan for only a few months, it's rock solid with no blade play whatsoever. I carried my Large Regular Sebenza for over six years, used it well daily, gave it countless cleanings, and to this day the lockbar locks up at the exact same spot as it did the first day that I took her out of the box.

I have full confidence that the framelocks in my CRKs are bombproof. :D

This has been exactly my experience with my 4 Sebenzas versus a few other Ti framelocks. Dependable and consistent are the two words I think of when I think of Chris Reeve Knives.
