Good morning,

I'm seriously considering getting a Lone Wolf Paul Defender, but I'm just a bit hesitant regarding the pivot. Is it adjustable?

With time, does it tend to become loose, and get some blade play?

A miniscule amount of play is alright with me, but if it get's more than a touch, it's quite irritating.

Also, have you EDCed this knife? If so, how has it held up?

Thanks,

Folderguy

I have one. It does tend to become loose but is easy to adjust for anyone who has reasonably strong fingers. Lone Wolf Defender

It is not perfect but, considering the design elements, I do think it is very good for the price. As for EDC, it's back to playing just a small part in my rotation but I do find it durable as well as comfortable to carry. And it opens very quickly with a little practice.

Hope this helps!

Sure does, thanks!

My father bought one not long ago and I've played with it quite a bit. For the intended purpose I believe it would be very effective. The lock is nice, no signs of loosening or play. Im the old man's knife mechanic, so I check all of his knives for disrepair when I handle them. It carries great, big knife that feels pretty small. It has a keen edge, good steel, but the tip is a bit fragile for more than medium duty utility work. It is a sizable knife for the cost, and I have alot of faith in the locking mechanism. I would imagine the lock could be manipulated pretty fast with practice.

For what they cost, grab one and if it doesn't work out they have decent resale value. :)

Glad to help. I mentioned a T-3 in the thread I linked. The stop pin is actually adjusted with a T-5. Vertical play does seem more rare in these knives but, if you have to adjust the stop pin anyway, takes more time and patience then turning the ring to adjust for side-to-side or to tighten or loosen the pivot. However, mine hasn't moved at all since I got it where I wanted it.

Regarding tightening the button, I've spoke with one person who used loc-tite as on any other screw; it worked very well for him. I've decided that I would rather finger tighten it occasionally as the threads are very fine and the chances of some loc tite dripping into the mechanism seem a little too high for my preferences.

It is no big deal to me, though this might change if it was designed or billed as a heavy duty folder instead of for defensive purposes.

I have ordered two from New Graham and both came with horrible grinds. The tips were way off center and looked like they would snap if you sneezed on it. NG was nice enough to give me my money back. Sweet knives just make sure you can see it before you buy it or have them take it out of the box and make sure the grind is good. I might try again but for now, no thanks.....
