Question on a numbered Project 2

I have a Project 2 that I bought about 15 or so years ago. It's made in the US, but also has the number 55 stamped on it as well. Just wondering what it means.

Most likely, its the serial #...I have #10 from ABOUT THE SAME ERA...meaning you have #55 of so many made ...they no longer do serial numbers, but used to number the first 100 or so of any run of knives.....
