I got a Buck 110 for Christmas and just want to know if something I am experiencing is normal. When open there is absolutely no blade play, but when closed the blade is so loose that it rattles (hitting both liners) if you shake it. I bought a Buck 110 in 1965, still have it and it doesn't do this after forty years. Is this normal?

By the way, it didn't do this when brand new.

Keith,

IIRC, there was another post asking about that and the answer was that it wasn't usual, but that some did and if it was a nuisance that you should send it in to Buck and they will take care of it. Preston

Keith,
In my opinion it is not normal. I have more than a dozen 110's and while one may be able to wriggle the blade back and forth by hand when closed, none of them rattle back and forth on their own. This includes the ones that are 40 years old. If it were capable of rattling around on its own, that would be worrisome. The good news is that Buck is oustanding with their customer support. If you send the knife into them, I'm sure you will get it back in perfect condition.

Ditto. That isn't normal to have that much side to side play. Send it back to Buck & they'll make it right.

Since I am in Canada I think I will take it back to where the knife was purchased from and see if they will exchange it before sending it in to Buck. Thanks for the replies.
