Question On Columbia River Knife and Tool

...Just reading BF over the years I have seen too many assumptions and/or opinions turn into fact , thus turning people that otherwise might like a given knife or brand against...

Truer words were never spoken. There are so many variables in the design and construction of a knife, that the only true evaluation is the one you do for yourself. I have some 'name brand' knives made using S90V steel that I absolutely hate. On the other hand, I have some 420HC knives that I absolutely love. For me, it is more important that I can easily 'freshen up' the edge in the field, for which steel like AUS4, AUS8, VG-10, 154CM, etc. are well suited.

The 'best' knife in the world, is the one that you are the most comfortable with, for whatever reason.

They never intended to,the whole point(sic) of the company was to produce knives that can compete with the US/Japan knives at the time.

A recent email from CRKT on this same topic;

Thank you for taking the time to drop as a line. All of our knives are made in Taiwan and China by factories we oversee. Quality Assurance takes place in Oregon . It allows us to produce the best possible products at the best possible value for YOU, “Our Customer”. We hold to very strict quality guidelines & engineering. We make multiple trips yearly to our factories to ensure these guidelines are being met. Each knife is inspected at the factory and then AGAIN here in our warehouse for quality, function & finish. We are proud to be able to produce such a fine product at a great price. I hope this will help you make a decision on your future purchase.

Have a wonderful day!
