So my FFBM will be here tomorrow according to USPS.com, and it comes with a Buy Brown Sheath. I was toying with the idea of a Dguard from Mashed Cat, but I'm assuming with the way most Busse kydex are set up that the sheath would no longer fit, am I correct in this assumption?

Also, who else has dguards for sale? I'm not going to braid my own, my knot work leaves much to be desired. Mashed Cat my best bet? How would you make a sheath fit the dguard?

David makes his sheaths with a hole to match the front talon hole, so you can pass some cord or a rod through the holes in the sheath and the talon hole for an ultra-secure lock-in of the blade. So, obviously, it wouldn't work too well with a D-guard ;)

Not the best picture, but dug this one up quick to show you what I mean, on an NMSFNO.

Hi

I have made sheaths that will work with the d-guard, the kydex has to be molded around it.

I may be able to help you out with that you can send it in & I will fix it up just pay for the return shipping.

I have had some other customers cut away material so that it would fit also.

You should make sure you like the idea of a d-guard first, because you can cut away the kydex but I have not figure out how to grow it back :)

Let me know if I can help.

Like David has said it is best to mold the d-guard with the knife during the build process. Someone with the right tools can open the area up around the talon hole for the guard to fit. You will not be able to use Davids talon hole for the paracord if you have the d-guard installed. You should still have plenty of retention anyway.

mustard man, that challenge coin holder is smooth, that give me a couple of ideas, hope that you don't mind others using the idea...

David made the challenge coin holder, not me, so it's up to him to decide whether he minds or not :p

10 dash four, hope that you have a easy night at work!!! thanks for the info, will holla at dave...he would be making any kydex that i would purchase, i do not understand how a little puny fellow like him can bend kydex anyhoo...

you ought to see what he can do with a set of hd motorcycle bars...

Try it first for fit before you mod it , or send it off. It may work, and be just a bit tighter with a normal braided Dguard.

If it is attached with the metal chain link pieces likely won't fit.

My mashed cat sheath fits with a D guard and a lanyard, but the handle has been reduced by hand shaping.

Hey guys, I appreciate the responses, and dave, that is a generous offer. I'm going to give it a shot with no D-guard, then pick up one from Mashed cat and try it. If I like it with the d-guard, and send it to you, will the sheath be able to still retain the knife with the d-guard removed?
