I have a few sheep's foot blades on the table in 1/16 1095. I was wondering how thin I can take them before heat treat or If I can take it down to the normal .015-.02 area before heat treat like I do with my 1/8 blades. The blades will be hardened by Peter's to 59-60 Rockwell by the way. Thanks in advance.

For 1/16" it is generally recommended that you do all of your grinding after HT.

I grind most of my stainless knives after HT; ensures no warpage.

I will grind anything around 1/16" after HT.

Sorry ,too short of an answer,I grind anything 3/32 or less after H/T. Especially carbon steels as you have to remove a decarb layer anyway.
