This is the first time making a half stop in a slipjoint for me.
So far the rise a fall or all set in all three positions.

The question is it seems the rise is to much possibly when it's in motion....
Meaning when it rides against the corners going to a new position.
But I'm thinking if I round the corners it will no longer lock in the positions.
I'm thinking mainly in the closed position.

Right now my spring is just a hair longer than the tang when at half and closed.
Is it ok to leave square or will it not effect it if I slightly radius the corners?

Here's some pics to explain better.

I know this seems odd in a sodbuster but I actually downsized a sodbuster junior design almost 1/4"
And thinking a half stop would be good.

You do need to radius them slightly,it will keep them from galling after heat treat and digging a hole in your spring.
Also file a small radius on the half stop of the tang leaving only .040 on each side touching the spring, this will help the tang sit solid on the spring and not rock.

You definitley want to radius the corners, I would do it on the spring end too. Those
radii plus spring pressure or lack thereof are what gives you a smooth acting folder.
Better to have the spring a hair long, that way it won"t "load up" when opening.
Ken.

Stan beat me to it.
