how hot should i heat the head when i put in my new shaft to lock it in nice and tight--:D

I have heard of people heating them in the oven for awhile not sure how long or how hot.
Havent tried it yet, usually just fit it tight and wedge it. Then soak in some linseed oil overnight.

I also put the handle in the freezer and have a rubber mallet on stand by. Retrieve the head from the oven, slip it onto the cold handle and smack the top of the handle a few times to seat it well.

By the time the handle warms up and expands and the head cools and contracts the eye onto the shaft, the head will be locked pretty well.
