Question on my CGFBM and rust, please look.

Can anyone else name me a company, in any field, that has Customer Service Angels reading their forum on a Saturday night, on their own time, ready to take of their customers...ooops, I mean, friends?

NUFF SAID. Although I will speak on this further :D With some of those other guys, you'd be lucky to get any decent customer service at all. I am aware of a situation in one of the other sub forums of this community where a guy's knife broke while batoning and the customer service lady told him that it was mis-use of the knife and the knife was intended to be more of a... and I quote, "fun knife" rather than a work knife or heavy duty knife.

Sumoj, I'm sorry that happened when you were showing it to your pops, but please give these guys a chance to make it right for you, and I'm sure you will come out much better in the end. Then take your pops outside and decimate some wood with your new Battle Mistress, and he is bound to be amazed.
Take care,
-steve

Really strange, I've never seen any of the uncoated blades rust anywhere even close to that.

I was surprised at the rust too, but it is boxed up and heading out tomorrow after work.

Thanks

that is nasty, to jerry's credit i have never seen anything like this in busse's either. even the comp finish's didnt get this bad.

Like always I love the Busse custom service, it's unmatched. I have never seen any company jump all over anything that isn't completely perfect, makes me glad I have more Busse then any other knife. It's good to have peace of mind :)

i bet there was maybe a pocket of air that formed under the coating....somehow some moisture was locked in and it slowly ate its way out....

i have 6 coated blades and i have never had a problem....prob a microscopic defect or somethin... trust me when i say that these blades rockand are worth every penny!!! and it is an anomaly that yours did that...just ask around, ya know :cool:

I don't oil my uncoated infi either. When I got My FBMLE it had some finger prints on it that I had to rub off. I have also let it dry after washing and had some water spots on naked infi, but no rust yet. I am sure if I lived in a higher salt environment like the everglades or on the coasts I would do more maintenance on my naked infi.

Be sure to give us an update when you get this beauty back.

Oiling coated blade ? Never heard about it...

All of my choppers with coatings have the edges/back bevels exposed plus lots of worn away/chipped areas where debris on the wood scratched away the coating = bare metal. If I bought a coated blade and never used it I would just oil the edge.
