Question on Sayoc Kali

The multiple blade methodology of Sayoc Kali is based on more than the surface imagery of someone carrying a full rig of weaponry. It is also a training device to keep the student's attention and awareness of multiple attackers or an attacker carrying more than one knife. Many disarms have been taught without ever refering to a second knife or another object jumping into the theater of combat. Tuhon Sayoc has brought this dangerous practice to light. With a full rig, a student is monitoring that right away. In addition, since Sayoc Kali is a FEEDER based system, one has to acknowledge that the closing of a knife to knife encounter for example, is not that simple. Usually an obstacle has to be presented to close the 'gunting gap' ... As for the legalities of possessing a multiple knife rig, as someone else has pointed out- it does not have to be an actual knife... you can use whatever object is on hand and if none are - then hopefully one has trained to utilise their empty hand skills as part of their 'rig'.The 'rig' is there to instantly make new students aware that the teaching methods are different and the knife curriculum revolutionary.

Legally, once one uses a knife on someone- the courts and the jury can turn on you... it does not need to be two or more knives. If the scenario of your defense is justified then whether one survives is the most important aspect of ever allowing your blade to excavate flesh.

Plus the "rig" teaches you all the variations and positions to draw your blade and holster it or them!so it dosnt mean you will carry all the blades just the different postions one may carry one or two ETC...

Dave,
You have posed an excellent question, it is important to understand the repercussions of all actions.

If you are assaulted and need to use you knife, it is life or death. In this type of a situation as long as you are defending your life or the life of another who is being attacked and your belief is you need to do something to save the life that is in jeopardy, you can ues almost anything you want, as long as you don't injure innocents in the process.

So that rules out the use of grenades and other high explosive.

In SAYOC KALI do we :
Throw blades....YES
Carry multiples..YES
Show techniques the general public thinks extreme..........YES

Do we always do these things...Of course Not.

We do these things or don't do these things, because of a deep understanding of the blade's use and the needs in a combat situation for various tactics.
I could talk for hours on multiple blade tactics, on controlling multiple attackers and their distanceing and various rates of closing through tactical deployment of projectiles.
Or about closing on an opponent who is weilding a much longer weapon than your own, and using a projectile in order to get a reflexive response and therefore providing an entry that before, would have been difficult.
Understanding that carrying multiples can allow you to draw with weak hand or strong hand, from standing, crouching or lying down. And of course allow you to draw after a blade is lost in the body or stripped.
But to really understand, you will need face to face instruction.
Shown in the brief way a web page or even a seminar shows them, they may not be completly understood, which is to be expected.
The good thing is that even through the misunderstandings a great deal of learning can be accomplished both by the one asking the questions and by the one answering, or trying to answer.
When I'm on the street I make sure, I'm in the right when acting in self defense. My lawyers will make the proper arguments to paint the right picture, and explain why everything had to be done the way it was done.

They are very good....They are also Sayoc Kali Instructors

Donna,
They practice law in PA, and because of there training have alot of insight into the combat and legal aspects of encounters.
