Does anyone know if there are differences in how Spyderco textures their G10 from knife to knife? The only Spyderco in G10 that I have right now is the Tenacious so use that as a benchmark. Any help would be appreciated its been almost a year since I’ve had any other Spyderco in G10 and I cant remember how it felt.

Their American- and Japanese-produced models are slightly more aggressive but not by a great deal. :)

Orange G-10 Military was by far the most aggressive G-10 I've felt. CF models right behind that.

The G-10 on American made models is a bit different then the Seki made ones, but not that much. All the texturing is pretty much spot on.

.:edit:.
Also wanted to add that there's a good amount of difference between the Seki and Golden cut serrations on the knives.

Thanks guys. Before I posted the thread I was just sitting with my eyes closed trying to remember if it was textured more aggressively or less.

I only have 2 spydercos in G10, but they are both Paramilitary's in forest green G10.

The first one I got (new from a dealer) was very harsh. If you tried to slide the handle across your pants it would pull up threads, it felt like 80 grit sandpaper. After some quality time with my lansky croc stick sharpening rods, the G10 now has a wonderful texture.

The second one I got (also new from a dealer) had a great smooth/grippy texture just like the first one AFTER I took down the harsh/sharp texture.

Pretty extreme variance. Great knives, both of them.

My pockets already have a short life span. A little extra wear from rough G10 doesn’t bother me.

Picked up a mini manix not too long ago, imo it has the best feel of any g-10 out there. The only other g-10 that I liked as much was on an Al Mar Shrike.

The smooth G10 feels nice and is somewhat grippy, I like it. I wanted to know if it maintained its grippyness when wet, it doesn't. However it has that big finger indent in the handle so it isn't going to slip out of the hand. The lanyard works very well IMO.

I did the same test with the sage and found the wet carbon fiber is not slippery, very cool.

My point was Spyderco also has smooth G10 now.
