Question on the "after sold"

I'll go ahead and accuse you of doing exactly the same thing. You've come up with a bunch of reasons why sellers redact, and then claim that all the sellers are in fact doing so for those stated reasons.

No, quiet is not doing the same thing as you. Quiet, myself, and many many many other people are saying there is a plethora of reasons why a seller would remove the price, and frankly, it is none of your business.

What you are saying is that sellers remove the prices for one reason and your reason is the only true reason. And it is rather insulting to tell us we are just a bunch of monkeys doing what we see other monkeys do. And on the back of all you have argued about this, it is really just because you want the rest of us to help you price your items.

Do people practice monkey see monkey do? Sure. But to say that is the main reason sellers remove prices is well, wrong.

My response is: (1) you don't know that the sellers are doing it for those stated reasons; and (2) those "reasons" are in fact unreasonable (most of the time).

The only thing unreasonable is a seller who needs other people to help him or her price their item.

Also think about it this way. Non paid members such as my self cant ask for valuations without a paid membership. So why leave that info out for me to find?

And yet another reason. Seems like we could come up with a list while brancron is just arguing for his way or the highway.

I personally dont like leaving values up. Do you know how many times i have been asked "why are you asking xxxx amount of money for the knife you are selling when in 2007 someone sold one for less than that?"

Perhaps people would like bladeforums to include an inflation calculator to better help them price their items.

I'm actually taking a charitable viewpoint towards people by assuming they're doing it by rote rather than for the silly reasons you've listed. But yes, I know, you don't think the reasons are silly. We're not going to agree on this. Let us call a truce.

Please understand that while I enjoy arguing about this, at the end of the day, it really doesn't matter at all. Because it all comes back to something we both agree on: people have the right to do whatever they want.

I also trade/sell watches on other forums, and for reference for those selling they do not allow a seller to edit the initial posting price after being sold. This is strictly so that future sellers can research sold item prices for a reference. Why doesn't BF do this? Wouldn't this help the overall experience of selling on this site?

The current rule is that the seller can remove the price if he/she wants to. There are arguments in favor and against changing the rule, but the rule is what it is.
