I done a search on the csar and know that alot of people like them. I need some info on it as a serious edc, pros and cons. people who have carried them and used them. thanks:thumbup:

I carry mine and use it daily, its a little on the heavy side if your not used to carrying a big knife. I carry it front right in my jeans and uniform pants, and in the tool pocket on my coveralls. Very much worth the money,I plan on picking up the fixed blade version when I have the money.

Its a little big for EDC, especially as a defensive folder. The two I have are sturdy and well made folders. As a big belt carried folder its a great knife, for SD applications a Bravo or Strider/Buck 882 folder would be a better Buck EDC knife.

Buck sells a cool tool kit to go with it too...

Does Buck make that tool set and does it say Buck on it? I was just wondering, because there are any number of tool sets that will work with the CSAR. Everything from torx, screwdrivers to nut drivers. The tool socket in the CSAR is a standard size so just about anything you find like that will work.

I answered my own question by finding this stock photo of the "Buck" tool kit for the CSAR. Not a Buck product but a nice kit none the less.

Dave-you're right, doesn't say Buck on the kit, it's nice but any basic one would work.

Dispatch- I really like the CSAR. It's large. I would handle one if you can before buying. If you like the feel of it I don't see any reason to not go with it.

If you decide against it because of size/bulk look at the Vantage or Paradigm. Both great knives, thinner, lighter if that is what you need.

I bought one for about $100 when they first came out, Carried it once and hated it. It was way to heavy for an EDC. It would have worked better as a Boat ancher. It weighs a 1/2 pound for god sake. It wasn't very sharp when I first got it, which I didn't care for. Others say it was razor sharp when they received there's. I sold it shortly after for much less than I paid. IMPO I didn't like it!!!! it is too big to be a folding knife that you carry every day!!!

All I can add to this is that I feel the same. I still have mine (temporarily anyway) and I never even tried to carry it. I just couldn't figure out any good use for it (for me anyway) that couldn't be handled by something smaller and lighter.:thumbdn:

I love big folders and this is a great knife, I EDC all my big knives unless Im goin to church then its a smaller carry blade, did have to sharpen it though and it is rough on pockets.

Thanks for all the replys, I really like the looks of this knife. I have a vantage and love it. also love my 110 and 112. I carry both the 110 and 112 0n my belt and at times a leatherman. So belt carry would be the way I would carry it. I think I will have to pull the trigger on this one before to long. If anybody else has any comments Im still interested in hearin them. BTW this knife is not for selfdefense. I leave that to my Glock 27. lol

This post made me pull mine out of my pocket and ponder it more. Wasn't as sharp as it wanted it so took it to the paper wheels.

It has to be sharpened at a far higher angle than other knives I have because of the blade design. Something to keep in mind when you sharpen it. Mine is hair popping sharp again but it is at a high angle.

I am happy with mine as far as an outdoors hunting type knife. For me as an EDC its quite large. I do like having it on my belt when I am in the woods and have the possibility of getting turned around though :D
Give it a shot, its pretty nice! ;)

Watching this thread with interest. I was debating between the CSAR and the ZT0200. Some wise soul said why not get both? So, got the 0200 for Christmas and now I've been seriously considering the CSAR. So, along with the OP thanks for the good info :D

I have the CSAR and the ZT200. The CSAR is definitely the heavier and thicker of the two. The size and weight of large folders has never been a problem for me. My CSAR came razor sharp. It will dull quicker due to the thickness and angle of the bevel. It is easy to sharpen though. It is stiff and slightly off center due to the double plate liner on the liner lock side. It is not a slicer. It is basically a small sharpened prying tool. It took longer than usual to break in. I like it due to the fact that I wanted just such a knife at a good price. The materials, warranty and BOSS HT make it worthwhile to me. I am seriously thinking about opening one of the holes on the blade to make a wire breaker out of it. The knife is easily heavy enough. What are holes in the blade for? I can't think of many uses for them. BTW if you guys want to part with yours send me a PM, I'll see what's in the knife kitty for this month :D.
The ZT200 is also a great knife and feels better in the hand due to the 3D contour of the G10.

Read somewhere that the holes are for wire breaking and to turn the valve on an oxygen bottle. I think that was right.
