so storms gone. cleaned up my tree debris and mess and decided tonight to go on a hunt for this mesa......

couldnt find one at the handful of super walmarts i checked, but while being in 3 different stores i noticed some of the same buck models came in boxes and some came in clam packs. same models only difference was which store. so whats the deal with same models in different packaging?

i managed to grab a 715 ascend, but the lock box display model no box or packaging. for the price its a decent knife, but lots of up and down blade play. i also grabbed a rosewood handled reaper they had. i couldnt go home empty-handed after all that driving and fuel and standing and waiting for someone to find the keys to unlock the cases. no mesas to be had though. the walmart reaper is a bargin and nicely done. i saw older posts saying fit and finish were poor, but the one i got in a box was very nice in fit and finish for the price.

man im gonna hunt a few more stores and then im giving up. sure wish i could call and get someone to understand what im looking for.....but it is what it is........

They like UPC codes. I would call the next store on your list and ask them to check the computer to see if it's in stock by this code.

My package shows the UPC as 33753 13549 (there is a number 1 further off to the right, I don't think that means anything)

The package also shows a Model 0632GYSWM-C and Cat 10852, but I don't think either of these will help you/them. They want the UPC.

thank you Sir. that is helpful. really appreciate it.

You bet, good luck!

Also, I got help from emw479 finding some of these WM specials. I emailed him. Very helpful.

Monkey,

FYI, You can order it online at walmart and they will ship it for free to the walmart store of your choice. Save you some time and gas money!

jbm, yes, there is no way to get accurate assistance by calling a store. Driving to them was best. Or like John mentioned, search for it on line. DM

I did get a second Buck Mesa and found a display unit but they would not sell it. Of all the associates that I ask they could find no way to order and only recommend to check back. Was not able to find on line. Either way I think this is a good Buck knife for heavy use. I got the second one for the lady of the house and she said thank you and took it straight to her Jeep.
Bob.

I don't see them online yet. I think you will eventually, but it could be several months. I got little assistance in person without a UPC code. You may have better luck with the UPC code, they will have something to use to check if it's hiding in the stockroom. Calling starts to make more sense after your forth and fifth trip to an ever expanding radius of stores for one item.

I have figured out from numerous local area stores (50mi radius) that ones with sporting goods counters that have knife displays, are more likely to have Bucks in boxes. Ones that have no counters and just racks and shelves have the clam pack where they can hang them.

Also the clammies have more info on them about the knives.

fwiw..

My two centavos worth..

If a store has a glass display in the sporting goods counter, the knives will go there. The only reason that a store will have knives hanging in clam packs is that it doesn't have a glass display case. Long term trend is towards glass display cases in all stores. As they get remodeled, they get a display case. Stuff sure does sell better if you can see how it feels first.

JBMonkey, PM me your location and I'll find the closest store with a Mesa.

hey, if you can do that by looking up something, I would be interested in Arkansas stores that have one. Or if you will tell me how you are looking it up, I will look here.

Thanks.

Iamjethro.... emw479 is a Walmart employee and I believe the person responsible for corporate knife purchases... he can look up things you can't... ;o)
