Question on warranty

I've given brand new Sebenzas as gifts. I have not included a receipt with any of them. If something were to go wrong with their knife how are they supposed to prove they are the original owner?

If you've given them as gifts new then they'll come with a Registration card. The owners can fill them out and send them to Idaho.

All the 'good' knife companies i'm aware of (benchmade, kershaw, etc.) have language about the knife being warrantied for the lifetime of the original owner but all of them i've ever dealt with will do work if the knife is flawed or fails in a legitimate way. Spyderco and ESEE are the only exceptions i can think of (i'm sure there are others), their warranty applies to the knife not the owner. If a company stopped honoring legit claims they would lose a lot of sales very quickly. reputation matters. I don't care much about where a knife is made but i will say this is one of the great advantages of the big american knife companies.

Here is the response from Jessie:

Jason,

As long as the lock bar isn’t damaged we will still clean, lock tune and sharpen the knife when you send it in for service.

Thank you,

Jessie
