I’m making a auto knife with a blade, leaf spring, and lock bar made from CPM154. Ive made the liners for the knife out of .032 410 stainless sheet steel.

Does anyone have any recommendations concerning time and temps for hardening and tempering the 410 steel liners? They are liners only, no spring or lock.

I’m thinking of hardening by heating to 1800, hold for 5 min., and air quench. Not sure about this or the tempering. Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks

No need to heat treat if they are just liners....they offer no additional mechanical advantage from heat treating.
