Question re: Millie and Benchmark steels

Wow! Y'all are terrible. :D

Those are some wonderful photos of a couple impressive collections.

Hey hey hey. :) My picture isn't mine, that's just from another thread.

Mine current collection is a single line S30V and a S90V/CF.... measly compared to some.

The Military was originally produced in ATS-34, but alas, I don't have one. Yab does though. ;)

My personal favorite is the S90V one. I sharpen on my Sharpmaker's Fine rods, and I plan on getting a set of UF ones to bring my edge up just a little. Sharpens fine, cuts like a laser. The stuff is hard, and you can definitely tell when you're sharpening it that it's going to take some time and effort.

From what I've been able to piece together, the Military was introduced in 440V with a two-screw clip. The steel was changed to ATS-34, still with two-screw clip, then the clip was changed to the three-screw, then the steel was changed back to 440V with the three-screw before going to S30V. That doesn't even count the variations in jimping, etched versus diamond engraved markings, etc. There are a LOT of Military variations out there.

Thanks, but that isn't really a collection. It's more of an accumulation. ;) :D

...A.P.F. - I have a feeling I'm going to end up with one of each of the Military... is there a support group I can join after I do? :D

Yes indeed, the Spyderco forum here or the Spyderco Factory forum here. You will find a frendly bunch of sickos...er... I mean like minded individuals, all in various stages of denial. ;)
