I have a 653 Tanto Nighthawk with some good use on it, and was interested in rounding out the tanto part of the blade. What is the best way to do this without adverse effects to the heat treatment? By the way, its a great knife.
Best way is by selling it and buying a clip point. If that is not the way you want to go, I would suggest very slowly with water to cool. I am not a knife maker and would defer to those with more knowlege than I but keep it cool and go easy.
Sell a good Nighthawk Nooooooo! Better to use a file
to carefully and very slowly reshape the blade. I've salvage a
few knives that way so I know the method works. It is a very
slow process tho.
