I have used an issue machette, clearing bush if you can imagine.
I can only remember actually having to use it a few times, other than that I just carried it and everything else I had on my back untill I could return it to stores (supply). Thankfully that was a piece of kit that we didn't always have to carry. I just bought the knife I used to have. It is in kit form and I will be putting it together tomorrow 4" blade DH Russell "Jump knife". I used it alot...tape,string, rope, notching small branches for improvised booby traps (just for training). I've always been reluctant to pry stuff with it (the bayonet is better for that)
I like the thread by the way, kind of humbling in a way, I thought I would see more Bourne supremacy type stuff, you know bic pen vs karambit...
