Question regarding ZT0300 Titanium

Here is an update of mine. It was my first time ever flaming a scale so take it easy on me :p. As for someone saying it will turn dark, finger oil definitely affects that but the lighting in the particular area is a big deal too.

NOS for the win!

I think it looks good and also liked the plain high polish too.

Ok so Titanium is relatively soft material that makes an oxide finish so it can be anodized similar to Aluminum. You can grow "rainbow" coatings on Ti using electric current in an acid bath. Google is your friend. :D

DLC on the other hand is tough. High quality (purity/smoothness) DLC is used to extend the durability and wear life of commercial tool steel cutters, presses, and rolls amongst other applications. The best grades are harder than diamond and slippery like graphite. Most often if you rub it with metal, the scuff you see is actually the metal coming off on the DLC rather than the DLC coming off. Its clear however theat the DLC use don most knives is probably cloer to the lower end rather than the higher end of the DLC "quality" scale. Not that I wouldn't love ot see a highly polished balde with a beautiful high grade DLC super tough finish... I just probable wouldn't be able to afford it.

Getting the DLC off is going to be a major job, steel wool won't cut it, you need harder abrasives to make progress in a reasonable time. And power tool assistance is your friend. Tumbing with carbide stones, blasting, etc...

But it sure looks nice when its done... :D
