I have one that's marked Buck (pre-asterisk) that's straight. My guess would be they started getting crooked in the late sixties--probably when the blade shape changed from the more dished out hollow-ground look to the modern look.
I don't know when the angle started, but I have a 1972 that looks pretty straight. Unfortunately, I have a gap of several years in my collection and the next knife has the angle. I'm sure that DeSotoSky or David can give us an answer.
I don't have any of that model with a one spacer, front and pommel. Mine are all early, like Bert's. I thought I had a year date model and
haven't located it. DM
If you Google the 102 and click on images you'll see a lot of them.
I saw an early one that looked crooked and a later one that looked straight.
Maybe some years had a mixture of crooked and straight.
Anyhow, it seems they've all finally settled on being crooked now.
Whether or not it's a blessing is a matter of opinion.
