Questions about a BK14?

I got mine today and its pretty good. Not very sharp out of the box but I don't know if that's because I put it in the sheath and puled it a few times. Gonna put an edge on it with a Lansky system. Thinking 25 Deg inclusive. What say the experts?
 
Its here and I love it. Just the right size for edc. I have one of the newer sheaths but it still dulls the knife. Someone posted about filing part of the sheath to stop this??? Is there any tutorial??
