Hi, guys!

I have this 111…..looks basically like an aluminum handled 110 (Maybe?). It’s engraved; but there’s a place on it to put a name….which the old owner did.

My first question is, how hard would it be to get rid of that name? Second question, would Buck ever pull a blade and put it into a new handle? The blade looks decent….I would like to use it. But I absolutely DESPISE that “pimp” crap on my knives….(apologies to those who like engraving!).

Is that something Buck could do, for a few, of course?

it could be ground down the name..but depends how deep it is and how much material is left. I see the pic, but hard to tell how deep it is, appears deepish?

so ya want the blade, but not the scales? am i gettin that right? if so......that knife is long discontinued. there wasn't plain handles for it. the blade is similar to a 110....be easier to just buy a 110 and sell that one to a collector.

I dont think Buck would part it out and put into a 110 frame...you could ask, but im gonna bet no.......

I would certainly prefer a 110…..I just didn’t want to waste the 111 blade.

Would a collector want the 111 with someone else’s name on it?

sure. collectors that collect this model wouldn't care or would have it removed...course you could too. except ya said the engravings weren't your thing.

I expect if ya list it for sale at the right price you'll get rid of it fast and make enough to get ya a new 110 easily.

Cool! Thanks!

I agree with the smoking monkey, it would sell for the cost of a new 110 on the sale page. Does not cost anything to find out. Technically the handle pattern is coined (stamped) into the soft aluminum, not really engraved. No way in my mind to remove the engraving without making a mess of the handle and that would devalue it. About the personalization, as a collector I tend to avoid them myself but have bought a few. I'm not even happy about BUCK family signatures engraved on blades but that is just me. It's kinda like DaVinci signing his name on Mona's nose... ;o)

Yep. That’s what it looks like. What does that mean? Is it the manufacturing date range?
Yes, if I read the info correctly , the 3 dot was made in 1980. The 4 dot started in 1981. The steel in 1980 should be 440c.
I should be close on this. Hopefully a more knowledgable member will fine tune this.

The knife is quite a bit lighter and thinner than the regular 110 brass and wood configuration. So it is more pocketable. These came originally with a matching tooled leather sheath. Think “Drugstore Cowboy”.View attachment 1760166
Yep, that’s it! Mine has the sheath, too!

It’s a nice knife….the look just isn’t me.

If you get a matching, tooled leather belt, with a good size buckle you could star in an Urban Cowboy remake! I have one, still NIB, and love having it in my collection but wouldn’t belt carry one either. OH

There is an odd texture on the surface of the banner. You would think the banner would be smooth even polished but its not.

It’s impossible to match that pattern after the engraving is removed. Just an observation.

They look gaudy today and definitely were a product of their time. I believe they were the first light weight slim 110 available.

I remember my Dad almost buying one. $50 I believe. It would have been 1985 or so. The regular 110 was $30 finger groove $35.
