questions about Loveless-style

Hi Everyone,

I've got a couple of Loveless-style knives in progress —*one was copied directly from his book and the other is my own stab at his style. I didn't really do any prototyping because, even while dead, Bob Loveless still knows more about knives than I ever will (and if it ain't broke, don't fix it). But even while the patterns were just on paper, the handles seemed unusually small. The knives are profiled now, and they are fine for my hands, but mine are on the small side. I know that the one I copied is the same size that he made his because I matched the scale in the photo to real life and copied it directly. Has anyone else noticed this?
My other question is about scale thickness. I know the contour of his handles (thin at the guard, palm swell, thin again at the heel, then flared at the butt), but I don't have the right pictures of his knives to discern how thick they were at the thickest or the thinnest. Can anyone help me out here?

Thanks,
Chris

At its thickest I believe the scales are about 3/8 on each side, as far as handle size with the pommel helping in retention as is traditional on his styles I think they tended to run on the smaller side.

Good luck, post some pics!
