Questions for RYP about the HEST

I personally think it is cool The RYP replied directly to the OP. I love my H.E.S.T. and I personally carry mine everywhere now.!

As do I. I'm still working out my primary EDC carry mode. But sounds like I will have a few different ways depending on what I'm getting my self into. :D

RYP thanks for the great information. I have to read some of your books. I just put one in the cart for my next Amazon order. Of course the only thing I have in common with this world adventure journalist is that I too have some days where the beer opener on my H.E.S.T is used more than anything.

The beauty of the HEST is that when sheathed it doesn't look too different [conspicuous] from a standard fixed blade... once drawn, though, you hear the "psssht" [can of whoop-ass being cracked open]

RYP a journalist? :D :D

I hear they are finally coming out with the DPX Maximum Security Kiester-Stash Capsule. Just the right size for the necessities: couple of cigs, smack in a condom, a few twenties and a razor blade. Maybe some floss and some pre-made kites.

Damn Expat, you must have an inside track or something on our secret meetings ..... :D

1. "20 dollar bill, fatwood and striker"? Wow, I didn't think you could fit all of that in the handle area. Looking at the link to RYP's pics it makes sense. Very nice.

2. H.E.S.T bayonet for the AK47! (last pic) Gotta love it!

3. RYP, thanks for the linky's. Really enjoyed the pics;)

That's all.

Wow a great reply from RYP, lots of good information in it. Now I really want to pick one up and check it out.

Edit: RYP you mention that you carry it "around your neck with some other essentials" What are these other essentials and how do you carry them?

I'm interested to see how many people use it just because of the RAT/DPX logo on it. As much tightening as my sphincter has done in my lifetime, I sure hope it can handle alot of squeezing force.

I'm not RYP but I have traveled with the HEST and carried it around me in the Jungles, cabs, buses, and streets. I put it in my check in luggage and carry it on me walking around. I only had it in my pack when it was being checked in but kept it on me otherwise. I was in Mexico for some time with it and besides tourism, kidnapping American tourists and drugs is their big business so I kept mine on me until I flew out and back in the check in it went.

Hope this helps you.

I checked a couple knives in my luggage when I went to school in Mexico. It made me feel alot more comfortable carrying one even if it shouldn't have. I made sure I had enough stuff with me that if I wasn't a pussy I could have maybe walked home(USA), all I had to do is head North right? lol.

One night we decided to go to this club, Poncho and Lefty's as I recall, decent place. Anyway, a guy patted me down on the way in and took it. I had been patted down going into tons of other places there and no one ever cought it. I told him when I left I wanted it back and when I left he was waiting at the door with it for me.

Some of the other places we went I am sure would have been so accomidating. Lol, when we would get the girls from the school to go out with us, they really did treat us well. That and the copious amounts of drinks we bought always made the business owners nicer.

Ranger Rick sent me a "survival necklace" that I used and I added a flashlight and small GPS. Its essentially some saw wire, sparker and cotton.

And as for DPx and the future. Mike and Jeff are good people and we will be creating a line of products that feature good old fashioned American utility, quality and values. But that won't stop us from adding some wickedly rugged and useful ideas :)

I like designing and selling well thought durable things that you can pass on to your grandkids that are still working as good as the day you bought them.

Well said. I like this train of thought and purpose brought to your products and mind set, says alot.

You guys are awesome!

If only you had your own beer brand, than everything would be complete.
