So I'm looking to make a knife, and I have literally no experience with this kinda thing. I have the blade picked out, it's this one here: http://www.knifekits.com/vcom/product_info.php?cPath=2_268&products_id=1378

The problem I'm having is that the suggested guard that would fit the dimensions isn't exactly what I'd like on my knife. Not only that, but the knife description doesn't give the dimensions of the part of the dagger that the guard would slip onto. This is the guard:

There are several other guards on the website that I like, but the dimensions are different from the suggested card. Some of the other guards dimension are 0.4 x 0.085, 0.415 x 0.075, and 0.375 x 0.095. Will any of them fit, given the difference from the original guard and the ones I'd prefer?
Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

The blade thickness is .185" so you need a guard that's less than or equal to that. The blade is 1 1/8" wide. Anything around 3/4" will be fine. You will most likely have to file and fit the guard to your knife unless you buy them as a package. Hey, you said you wanted to make a knife so go for it!
