don't agre with that. you can make a knife a good slicer with a somewhat strong tip.
Agreed, but it's still a compromise. An example of a really strong tip is the Hinderer XM-18. It's no good for digging splinters from your finger but you will break the pivot before your break the tip. And the pivot's pretty damn strong.
