questions on my new Villager and my new AK

If one of the H.I. kamis made it, it's covered for as long as you own it. Sell it, and the guarantee is voided. Bill's been burned in the past.

If Kumar made it, you have no worries.

But it said "village" not "villager" -- how can I know what this is?
Village and villager is interchangeable. Bill is sick and Yangdu is Nepali. You have to overlook both of their spellings right now.
As Kis said, "If Kumar made it you have no worries."

You'll learn the terminology as time goes on, just give it a while as there's a lot to learn.

Thank you!

For the khuks that aren't full tang through the handle, where does the tang end? I thought they all went to the plate on the rear of the handle but I guess this isn't so.

There's only a few that come standard with partial tangs. The Hanuman is one, all of the Garuds, Dui Chiarra, and the Jange something or other. If you see one you're not sure of just ask at the time. Like I said, "Give it time." You're not going to learn everything in a day or two.

Edit:
The tangs are substantial, just not full length. One of the guys here used a Hanuman as it came from the factory for years until it was stolen out of his house. And if any of the partial tanged khuks are pinned there is nothing to worry about, ever.

Some of the other-than-full tangs are peened over a diamond-shaped keeper cenetred on the butt plate. Others are "blind" tangs that end inside the handle just short of the butt - a very traditional construction. Some of the "blind" tangs are pinned at right angles through the handle material. Some handles are relatively stronger than the others but all are strong in an absolute sense.

I don't think we have seen a true villager, one from a blacksmith from a nearby village or remote village in over 18 months or more. They were screened for quality by Pala before acceptance and purchase to be forwarded to Reno. Maoists (Terrorists) have pretty much closed down that source of village khukuris. Pretty hard to travel around. True village models were much sought after for comparison to HI models. These true village models were not guaranteed by HI, as I recall, as they didn't have quality control of the metal or methods used in the process.
To satisfy the requests for Villagers Models. BirGorka will make the different models without all the final polishing, mirror like finishes, resulting in a satin finish and call them HI VILLAGERS OR VILLAGE, . IIRC, they don't usually have the markings of the Kami or the HI logo on. I'm not sure on that one, too early in the AM. HI Villagers have the HI guarantee.
Sgt Karka models, to be repetitive, are excellent knives, but made in Sgt Karkas own shop, not BirGorka. These are not true Village Models. Sgt Karka has been and is a Gurka with alot of experience. His son is the one we are helping get thru Med School. Sgt Karka presents these knives periodically as a 'Thank You' for our tuition/living expense to get Ram thru his education. His knives do not have the HI markings , no markings at all as to manufacture. After a while, it seems to me, you can tell his work by looking at it. Don't ask me how, just an observation. I couldn't pick out a specific. I'm not sure if Sgt Karkas models qualify for the HI guarantee, not being made at BirGorka.
I think I have summed that up, correctly.
Just one mans opinion with just a few Khukuris. ;)
