Questions regarding Terzuola ATCK

I recently purchased a copy of Mr.Bob Terzuola's book called "The Tactical Folding Knife". On the cover are 3 variations of his ATCF model. I noticed one of the models which had bolsters now had 3 visible screws. This is quite a suprise since the ATCF which I purchased a year ago do not have the same screws. Is this just a improvement in design, a shortcut in production, or simply for cosmetics? I personally feel the older version is more aesthetically pleasing but am very curious why Mr. Terzuola did. Thanks for any input.

I think you mean the ATCF. I'm not sure of the design differences, but my CF/Ti bolster ATCF has the 3 screw design and I bought it a year and a half ago.

Whoops! You are right, I miss identified Mr. Terzuola's knife as the ATCK rather than the ATCF.

Anyways, I received my ATCF with a 4" blade in Nov. 1999 and it didn't have the 3 screws in the Ti bolster? I am wondering if the design changed sometime between CPR's delivery and mine. What is the reason???????????? Is one knife more valuable than another? Is one knife better designed than the other? These are the question which I have been asking myself.

Check out: www.robertsoncutomcutlery.com They have both versions, so I think Bob makes them both. I know that mine (3 screws) is a heavy-duty mutha. I have no idea what the differences are. Does yours have a full back spacer and raised handles? Mine does.

My version is also heavy duty and quite a knife at that. It has the titanium bolsters with g-10 scales that are higher than the bolsters. Also, the back spacer almost completely covers the spine ending just prior to the bolsters.

Hi Mac Attack,
The mystery is solved. I was fortunate to spend some time talking to Bob T at the ECCKS show last Friday during one of his rare slow times.
The knife you have without screws in the bolster has screws! He has done some with blind screws coming from the back of bolster. He said he doesn't do very many that way as it is much more difficult drilling and tapping blind from the back.
So there you have it.

Aaahhh....blind screws. Very clean, very nice. I will indeed specify this when I order from Bob.

Thanks for the clue.

Hey Guys,
Thanks for all your diligent work in finding the answer to my questions. I actually think my version with the blind screws looks much cleaner than the ones with the exposed screws. I guess I just kind of lucked out on when I received my knife from Mr. T. I am very satisfied with my Terzuola knife and am thinking of placing a order for another one. Does anyone know the waiting period for one of Mr. T's knives? Thanks for the input.

The last I heard - from Terzuola himself - was about 10 to 12 months wait. Your best bet is to call him directly.

Thanks Bob for the info. I hope you are right on the Mr. T's wait. Considering my 5 year and counting wait from another custom maker I think one year wait is well worth it. I am really surprised that more people haven't caught on to Mr. Terzuola's knives. I have handled a fair share of custom knives and still find his to be amoung the top ones. Oh well, I all of us Terzuola knife owners will just have to keep it as our little secret. I think it is time to place another order! Thanks again.

Talked to Bob last night and placed order for folder, Ti handle 154 cm blade and blind bolts. About 10 month waiting period. Dick
