What is the chord ? I see on the end of some knives? Are they pre-made? Do you tie them yourself? Where can you get them?

Usually its paracord. A few knives come with some, most dont. Most knives do have a hole for it. Just google paracord, or use a shoelace.

The lanyard is for easier access to the knife, especially if it is in a pocket. Iused to use one on all of my knives, except that I used a loop. It was very usefull, especially when looped arround the wrist.
