"The sharp maker is well loved for a reason and, like yours, uses ceramic rods."
Does the Spyderco sharp maker work well on a Busse INFI or Chris Reeve A2 fixed blades? I was considering a ceramic stone, but read some good reviews on the sharp maker.
If you have to use a pull through sharpener try the two stage made by Rapala. They're cheap, and have ceramic rods on both sides so they won't trash your edge like tungsten carbide will. The down side is that the rods are short and they load up pretty fast if you use it often but they'll do a decent job in a pinch.
