I'm looking for aqua fortis to do a curly maple finish
I found 38%, 53% and 65% nitric acid, is that the same as aqua fortis?
Will the 38% nitric acid work?

Try jewelry suppliers

Try finding ones in your country.

It contains Nitric acid
High hazardous goods feeds for shipping can turn $10 -20 of goods into $100 of shipping and haz mat fees

Plus with the whole terrorist thing, Nitric acid is harder to get.

I love the look, but the heating step made it a pita for me. I also found it stained the tang and the liners. I'd like to know of your results or any tips.

Good call, didn't catch the Germany address.

Ok, Nitric acid diluted 50/50(depending on the strength of the acid) will make one kind of aqua fortis..Most traditional makers of one kind or another dissolve iron in the mix..Thats what gives you that nice red color, with no iron you end up with a more brown stain..The more iron, the more red tint you get.
