Kidding, but it works

As good as this does work I know a kid that did this when we were in high school. He used a whole 5 gallon can of gas to light a brush pile one afternoon when it was about 90 degrees out, it all vaporized before he got it lit. His parents house was about 1 1/4 miles south of where I lived growing up. It shook all the windows in our house that afternoon and a few weeks later some of the neighbors between our place and theirs told us what happened. Needless to say he had some permanent hearing damage from that.

I like dryer lint but I don't really get much as my clothes are almost all synthetic and or I don't use a dryer. I think of months worth of lint wouldn't fill a film canister.

You can make "lint" in a pinch if you wear blue jeans. I learned this when I spilled mustard on my jeans one day: just scrape away with your knife carefully and you will end up with a decent fuzz. Of course, this shortens the life expectancy of those jeans, but in survival that is my last concern.

I had success with the dryer lint and cedar shavings. Thanks for all the different info on fuels for starters everyone. Unfortunately we have no birch that I know of in my area (North Texas). I will have to try the milkweeds there's usually a good crop of them everywhere each year.

Where are you in North TX? I can get you a list of what kind of stuff you need to look for up there.

Just think rabbits bud. They are fluffy so light em up and let em go, they make a signal fire as they run through the bush , and you have a well done bunny to chew on while you wait for SAR.
