Quick Grinding Question

I am making a few knifes from 3/16 O1 steel, and was wondering if I am fine to shape them using a bench grinder/hand grinder/hand grinder with a cut-off wheel, or will this get the steel too hot. Probably a silly question, but I just wanted to be sure since most everything I have read talks about using a hacksaw and files instead.

It is best to try to not let it get too hot even before heat treating, because it can possibly build up some stresses in the steel and make the blade more prone to warping when quenched etc.

It's no biggy though as long you properly thermal cycle/normalize the blade before queching, which most of the time should be done regardless when using "simple" carbon steels, in order to set up the steel's crystal structure & size for the quench.

Not trying to complicate things for ya, but I figure it's worth pointing out. ;)
