Quick look: Cold Steel Hold Out II folder - new for 2011

Thanks for the good review. That being said, I have enough "cool" looking knives. I going to pass on this one. For it's size and price I want a blade that can double as a competant self-defense knife (Junk Yard Dog, Trident). The poor ergos and the absence of VG1 is a big turn off for me. Yeah, I am also very unhappy about the new Voyagers "air duct" bead blast finish and Aus 8. BRING BACK VG-1!:(

It's begging to be used reverse grip edge in with thumb capping the bottom of the handle or be a little bushcraft back-up, small jobs/fine work knife. It's a great design with a lot of versatility.

If you are stabbing in a reverse grip without thumb capping you are doing it all wrong to begin with. Strongest grip when grabbing an object or making a fist is thumb on top unless you have abnormal physical development

One of the negatives for this knife was the lack of finger grooves. I fixed that with a die grinder in about 10 minutes (I also enlarged the existing index finger groove). It changes the whole grip on the handle and gives a much more secure feeling.

zeus36, pictures please. Can some one update reviews of the folder, the 4", mid-size (?). Is the blade sharpened on both sides??? Does the lock-up be come a little easier after some use? Pro's & Con's for using as a backup woods buchcraft utility knife?

Yes, the blade is sharpened on both sides.

The opening action is still a little slow for me because of the handle size and thumb stud placement being low.

I guess that it would work for bushcraft use as long as one is careful not to abuse it.

The tip would be easy to break though if not being careful.
