would it be prudent to trade a G-10 civilian for a ATS-34 Sifu W finger grooves, and a Gerber Applegate folder?

Depending upon the condition of the knives, I'd call that a major victory so far as trades go. However "bad" the Civilian looks, it's design makes it so limited in use that I absolutely couldn't see spending the $$ for one. Not even at half price. Of course, your mileage may vary. (Been wanting to use that phrase for weeks.)

WHY would anyone buy a civvy for 150+ when you can get a matriarch for $50 - like, maybe if it had a liner lock, or a big difference somewhere else, but i cant see doing that, IMHO - a SIFU is a lot better knife for, well, really anything - i git my mat from a LEO dealer, paid about $45 for it, but i really never carry it - just no utility use, really, and i usually a big knife (eg-SIFU or Crawford Kasper custom) and a smaller 1 (eg-BM AFCK, CRKT point guard, MT SOCOM) for utility, so it messes me up, as it has no utility value and i wouldnt depend on it for my primary edged weapon because you have no stabbing capability, and i dont want to carry 3 knives, already got toooo much stuff to carry. just my 2 bits worth
