i got back a few hours ago...

overall fun was had by all four of us that showed up...

we all got to enjoy at least one wet rainy night. brett and i got to enjoy two wet rainy nights.

we chopped and sawed and split...

we did some crazy stuff with the fire last night...

tony and brett will have photos up later, still no camera for me.

i got to see just how much i can come up with to do in a 3x6 foot space for several hours...

it was fun, we were a bit disappointed in the turnout, but we enjoyed ourselves. it was great to test out my tarp/blanket setup some more (i still haven't bought those wiggy's liners or the big tarp like i want to).

i wonder if the guys got tired of hearing me say "i really need to get X" or "i really wish i had X"....

but i learned alot this weekend, including (finally) how to clean a fish.

wish more of you guys could have made it, but there's always next time.

Simon bro you always impress me with your knowledge and skill of the outdoors and sick sharpening skills. I had an awesome time dispite the turnout. The rain made it interesting I thought. I also enjoyed your minimalistic sleeping arrangements, although not for me, but I was impressed with how you tuffed it out. I will have pics up later tonight ou tomorrow.

thanks tony...you are no slouch either.

you certainly had your sleeping arrangements in much better shape than i did...

i forgot to see if i could show you how to sharpen, i meant to ask you if you wanted me to.

Man..I wish I went! The weather didnt have anything to do with me not going guys...I had to finish a roof and it took ALOT longer than I expected. Sorry, but I think we need a winter campout anyway..thats alot of fun to! Siguy (Simon), sorry I missed you. Tony, MAN..sorry to you to, bro. BRETT..dude..I am looking forward to seeing you again. So..I hope there is a winter campout..maybe in January..my family is going down south in the begining or Jan..so I am gonna be free!!! Gene

i know that i'm going to get out as much as possible, especially once i have the gear that i am looking forward to getting.

i am hoping to be able to get up to marty's winter campout, but if not then i look forward to doing one here. maybe even on the same island, that was a pretty cool camping area.

Thanks Simon. and you know I would have enjoyed a lesson on sharpening, definately next time.

Gene we wished you were there bro, you miised out on some Bretts outstanding meat selection. I think the 3 of us gained about 10lbs each Sat night. But we skinny bastids need it:D

the food was definitely top notch, excellent stuff. between the sausage, the steak, the trout, and all the wood ash i was very well fed.

benchmadebob, hopefully there will be many more, you are more than welcome to any of them. just keep an eye out on the calendar of events, and there will be a new post for each new event.

I was there (on the mainland) for a bit on Saturday afternoon with a few of my friends, they wanted nothing to do with making the crossing.

We did spend the day exploring the river, hiked in Peoples State Forest, and climbed to the top of the big rock overlooking the Barkhamstead reservoir.

A good time was had by all,

…but I’m sorry to miss the chance to hook up with you guys.

we would have come over and said hi at least...should have hollered over.

oh well though, there will always be next time.

Mike the crossing was a PIA. But I wished you hollored over, it would of been fun to bs with you again. Glad you had a good time.

Yeah, the crossing kind-of sucked. The current was pretty rough, in the AM at least. The depth was less than I expected, however. The bugs were not as bad as expected, but I got bit a few times. I didn't feel any need to use spray, but some of the other folks did.

Screw other plans, I should have arranged things to spend the night. Looks good indeed. I would have been a lot happier overall.

i wonder if the guys got tired of hearing me say "i really need to get X" or "i really wish i had X"...
You guys probably got more sick of my "Oh crap, where did I put my...." I had a pile of clothes and a couple of items (the duct tape and some othe stuff) by my bed, clean and dry, waiting for me.

Overall, it was a fun event. It was great to meet some of the people behind the screen-names. I learned a lot, and realized that I have a lot more still to learn. I hope we have another CT gathering. It's nice to get to meet up with other good folks.

Then, there's the SOB that rear-ended me (causing a 4 car pile-up) and fled in West Hartford, about 5 minutes from my residence. I'm hopeing the cops catch up with that person. We have the plate number and vehicle description, and the plate is registered to a vehicle that matches that driven by the person at fault. We'll have some damage pics, tomorrow, hopefully. We'll also know then what the driver's insurance status is. I woke up this morning with some nasty neck, back, shoulder (right, also there looked like some redness too), upper arm/elbow (pain and bruising, left side), and bruising and soreness on the back/inner side of my right knee- the doctor said that 1 leg could have slammed into the other when I got jolted . Had some minor soreness and redness on my thighs near my knees from them hitting (probably) the steering column (or soemthing else, dash maybe). Traffic was stop and go, its a blur to me exactly what happened before I got plowed, but I believe that my foot was on the brake. I was allowing propper distance with the vehicle in front of me (which definetely spared them damage). The only skid marks present were mine, so the WHPD could not determine that at fault driver's speed. There was skid marks and a trail of debris (little parts, fuse relay, etc...) for about 1.5 to 2 car lengths distance that my car was pushed into the car in front of mine, which in turn was pushed some distance into the car in front of his. The vehicle that hit my car (an older American sedan) was a mini-van. They were traveling at a good clip, defenitely excessive for the stop and go conditions, probably between 30 and 40 mph (just a guess).

bummer man i hope all turns out well.

i'm hoping for more get togethers in the future...maybe a winter camping trip. we won't see tony for that trip, but i'm sure we'll survive ;)

MP510- I hope next time you could stay longer, it was fun hangin bro! That sucks about your car.

Simon- I would be totally down for a winter camping trip, just let me know where in Florida you guys want to go:p

Looks like alot of fun...Sorry I missed it... Perhaps next time.... I'm looking into getting 30 acres in upstate NY...It'll be q while before I know if it'll work out, but if it does everyone is welcome to meet there as often as they like.. just hot to promise not to sue me LOL

Got some good news from the WHPD this morning. The vehicle is registered, and the registered owner has been contacted. The individual claims that the car was loaned out to a friend at the time. The person has named a friend, who along with the vehicle have not been seen since the accident. The police are hunting for the driver and vehicle. The big thing, is that we are awaiting to hear whether or not the owner had insurance. If that individual is insured, that will be a good thing for me- their insurance will pay. I'll know whether they are insured, hopefully by Wednesday, but it could take until Friday.

Gene sorry we didn't get to see you again, next time maybe...Glad you are still here...Thanks guys for all the COMPS....You are who make it all happen...
