Quick survey - Real or Fake tree this year?

A cedar tree about 5' high that I found while squirrel hunting. The north side is a bit thin but I put that in the corner so its no big deal. I've always had a real tree and always used the big colored bulbs from the 50's. Some of the bulbs are actualy from my dad's childhood. Every few years I'll pull out the bubbleing bulbs that sometimes explode and spread toxic chemicals. AH simpler times.

Fake and white!
Easy and stress-free and the kids really like the white for some reason.:)

Besides, if I want to see a real tree all I have to do is look out my window.
You can't throw a rock in any direction without hitting a pine tree down here!

How about some pictures?

This thread inspired me to go ahead and put up the tree. Mine is a real. Real plastic. Inflatable. Blow it up and there you have it. Deflate it when the time comes, fold it up and put it in a shoe box.

We have done both real and fake over the years. At the moment we have a fake tree that looks very real. I grew up cutting pinion pines as Christmas trees and when we moved back to Nevada my wife was excited about cutting our own tree as she grew up buying trees from a lot. After several years of the mess we switched to a fake tree. If I had my way we wouldn't have a tree at all. I get Grinch and Scourge items every year. :D

We have a fake prelit 9 foot tree that I think looks great. I can't imagine going through the hassle and cost of buying and setting up a real tree with how easy this tree is. Our tree looks so nice that I have spent a couple hours in the last week just sitting in the Living Room listening to Christmas music and looking at the tree with a nice warm drink.

I can't ever remember in 46 years havin' a phoney tree.

Besides, what would I burn in the fire pit to spark off the beginning of summer come Memorial Day, traditionally we burn the Christmas tree, not melt it.

Yeah, a real Christmas tree is a pain. The smell is nice, but that's about it.

We have a Charlie Brown sized fake tree somewhere in the horrible evil labyrinth known as the "attic."

I hope they don't make me go get it.

I'm a bit of a Grinch. I hate Christmas carols too.

Fake tree for us. Even came with all the lights already on it;) We always had a real tree growing up, and I suppose the wife and I will get a real one once we start having kids. However, our "kids" now consist of a hyperactive sheltie/terrier and wreckless old ferret that likes to take a running jump off into the tree to steal the decorations.
I can just imagine the water being drained out of the base of a real one by a thirsty dog mouth, and then having all the dry needles knocked off by the daredevil ferret:rolleyes:

Thomason... those are some kick-dupa canes! I like the tree concept too.

For me, it's the worst of both worlds. I have the world's UGLIEST fake tree, and it SHEDS IT'S UGLY FAKE NEEDLES all over the damn place. I have decided it will get pitched this year, and hope to get one of those fake ones with the lights already on it. I will attach wheels to the base and wheel it into it's own dedicated closet, which I will build right in the dang family room.

We had real trees growing up and for the first 25 years I'm married.
After having 'colds' every year at Christmas, we realized it could be a tree allergy.
We bought a fake and no one has been sick for 4 years...
And if you're gunna go fake...
GO FAKE!
It's a white one.
:D
If I could've found a silver foil tree I would have got it.
That and the spotlight with the spinning four color disk.
:D

I really do like a real tree though.
Just don't like the sneezing.

We've always had a real tree, but my parents have accumulated so many ornaments that they've gotten a couple of 'deco trees to show off some of the ornaments that won't fit on the real tree. It's always been my job to do the lights. I think I set a new record this year! All the lights were on the tree and working in about 15 minutes! I'll try and remember to get some pics up tomorrow.

Besides, what would I burn in the fire pit to spark off the beginning of summer come Memorial Day, traditionally we burn the Christmas tree, not melt it.

I remember one year when I was living in Santa Cruz, I found a pile of about 30 old Christmass trees behind a store in June. We lit those up on Seabright beach. I could have sworn that the resulting inferno turned the sky blue at midnight there on the beach!
