I asked Newts about the NRG material. He said it was made to stick into living things and break off. He told me that if I wanted something other than a defense tool, I should go with the steel version. I'm sorry that I don't know what G-45

is.

thanks for the info mitch.. here;s wicked Knife co's webpage: http://members.tripod.com/~Newt_Livesay/

the g45 looks like it has the funky grind of the Woo but in a non tanto format. as opposed to the NRG steel.

The NRGS is a very comfortable and handy knife. The Executive version has a micarta handle and adds a bit of weight. I would carry the NRGS if I didn't already own FrankenWoo.

IS the FrankenWoo modified by yourself or by Sir Livesay?WHat did you hop it up with?

The G-45 is a small knife. If you line up a Woo and a G-45 side by side, edges facing each other, you'll see that they were both cut from the same bar of steel. I bought a G-45 for my son, which he wears everyday, to ward off the evil Pokemons...

If you're not into the tanto thang, well, how about a Little Pecker? Drop point, flat ground...nice knife. Or how about the Celt? Wharncliffe blade shape, just a tad longer than the Woo and LP. OR...

You can get ALL of them!!

I say do it. You only live once, Sniperman...so go ahead and order all the knives you want, cause you know what? You deserve them!

I'll tell Newt to expect your large order.

You are a very very VERY bad influence MrG

I think from now on I'd better watch advice from you since I see a trend.. I will try to email Livesay for better profile scans I guess.. thanks.

Another option is the LP. About the size of the woo but not a tanto. The LP has quite abit of belly on it, making it excellent for utility as well as defense.

I am a big fan of the NRGS (micarta handle)
Decent self defense blade also decent for utility. It takes an holds a great edge. The kydex is really nice too. This is one of my favorite knives. The knife cost me $40 or $45 I cant quite recall exactly.I find that I carry it more often than my Woos because of the blade shape.
buy 'em all,

I really like my executive NRGS. I agree that the sheath is awesome and the knife takes and holds an edge well. Mine came with a thicker edge bevel (around 30 degrees) than I prefer, but that was an easy adjustment.

FrankenWoo (Copyright 1999, all rights reserved, etc, ad nauseum) is an unauthorized (but well accepted) custom collaboration between Newt Livesay and myself. In other words, Newt didn't know I was screwing up his knife until I was done. I purchased an older model Woo and over a period of 8 to 10 months modified it thusly:

1) I took a small V file and added grip serrations to the spine and index finger cut out. Spine serrations are now standard on the new model Woos. I don't think I was the first one to actually think of this, but Newt said I could take credit.

2) Cord wrapped the handle.

3) Broke the tip and re-profiled the knife so it would be "pointy" again. The only thing I hae ever done with a Dremel tool that didn't totally destroy what I was working on!

Here is a picture of the final hideously beautiful results.

I have a double ground Woo and a G45. I've had no experience with the NRG, but I like the G45 alot and wear it frequently. It is light and does't "print" on most shirts.

Willie, do you have access to a digi camera or a scanner? Iw oudl like to see the grind lines on the G45 cause it is not so clear on Wicked knives..
