Quietest folding knife?

Another vote for the Umnumzaan.

While it is true that a knife with an involved mechanism like that on an Opinel can be quiet, I'm not sure that people open and close and lock them as much as they would something like a liner or a frame lock.

Do NOT buy an integral Titanium folder from makers like Rassenti, Michael Raymond, or Scott Cook. These integrals make a loud Thrack when they open, waking up the whole neighborhood. That is what you pay for, that Thracking sound :)

The XM-18 also makes a loud (and very satisfying to me:)) THWACK.

My SR-1 is the loudest folder I own but damn it sounds like pure sweetness.

This thread makes me cringe, I hate quiet knives. Especially ones with weak backsprings or detents.

What if you were like on a secret covert mission in an enemy base and you had to sneak up to the bad guys and slit his throat and then all you had was one of those really loud navajas or a folding knife with a titanium thingy and then you opened it and it made a really loud sound and then the bad guys heard you and then they shot you and you had to start the whole level over again. What then?

Then i'd die. Curse my knife preferences.

If i was on a covert mission, i would bring a fixed blade...thats just me though :)

I KNEW. Roommate or loved one would be the reason when I read the title. Hehe! Any folder can be quiet if you don't wanna disturb someone. Just open the blade most of the way with your thumb as normal but before the lock engages put your thumb on the lock the same as if you were disengaging it and use your index finger to finish opening. Keep pressure on the lock with your thumb and quietly allow it into place. I can do it with any knife but it is easiest with a knife with a hole in the blade. It tkes practice but I do this all the time while my GF is sleeping.

If you just want a quiet one hand locking knife any Benchmade axis lock is quiet if opened slowly. The CRK Umnumzaan is also super duper quiet.
