Quikclot

I carry Combat Gauze in my main kit and the sponge form in smaller kits. Also carry pressure dressings with these haemostatics, guys.

Are getting the veternarian supplies version cheaper a good idea for those on a budget?

I can't imagine they'd be that much cheaper..the kit I got was $20, and I think most are $20-$40 with various sizes.

Another thing to take into consideration is lawsuits. If you happen upon someone who is bleeding and in need of this stuff...if they get scarred or otherwise want to sue you I'd rather show the judge a Quikclot package designed for humans instead of showing him some horse clotting sponge..

I used it on a dog I watched get hit by a car while driving one day. ******* just kept going, that **** drives me insane.

Anyways, two legs were broken and one of them was bleeding like crazy (bone probably severed something) so as I was driving him to the local shelter to our (amazing, incredible and badass) vet tech I pulled it out of my EDC kit and just sloppily applied it.

Dog died minutes later from punctured lungs, but he sure as **** didn't bleed to death.

I know missed used some when his izula bit him while cord wrapping the handle. Other than that I have some but never used it. Hope I never need to. But keep it handy just in case.

WHo moved this thread. We had no problem with it on the ESEE forum. In fact, it belongs there in many ways.

Jeff, I wasn't the one who moved it but I have moved it back per your request. Hope that helps.

Thanks Blues. Good info in this thread and we wanted to make sure it stayed within our forum since it's so much a part of what we do as a knife manufacturer and training company.
