Quintessential Case Color?

For contemporary CASE I'd say Chestnut Bone is a worthwhile consideration

I’ve always been partial to real dark bone Case handles as seen through much of the last 6 or 7 years of the 1970’s and into the early 1980’s. Probably why I buy so many from that era. I like the Red Bone and Green Bone but consider it vintage collectible while I see the dark bone as users. OH

Yellow Delrin. I believe it is being used/has been used in the most patterns also.

...
Although for their more recent models, Chestnut jigged is stellar.

Although I think red bone and yellow delrin are probably the "historically correct" responses, I have a hard time "voting" for redbone because it's currently hard to get. There's no doubt that these days. amber jigged bone is certainly a popular and distinctive cover for Case, but if "quintessential" involves any personal preference, I'll cast my lot with Mike and Will and say that chestnut jigged bone is easily my favorite Case cover.

Yellow Delrin. I believe it is being used/has been used in the most patterns also.
In the 2019 Case catalogue, there are 14 yellow Delrin knives in Chrome Vanadium, plus 3 in Tru-Sharp stainless steel that are not duplicates of the 14 in CV, for a total of 17 different patterns in yellow Delrin.

There are 16 amber bone SS knives, with an additional 3 different patterns only available in CV, for a total of 19.

And in stores, I see slightly more amber bone knives in stock. And among people I know, more have amber bone than Delrin.

But those two are definitely Case's biggest sellers.

Thanks a lot PJ, now I will have to look into amber bone knives...really appreciate it  :)

Thanks, guys! I love the amber bone myself. Went to Sportsman’s Watehouse today but all they had were SS Stockmans except one CV in chestnut. Pretty tempting, but I’ll hold out for the amber bone I sure like it.

The current Case catalogue states: "Our Amber Bone color and Peach Seed jig are signatures of the Case brand and the true heart of the Case line." It lists 16 patterns in stainless steel and 6 in Chrome Vanadium. The CV patterns are two medium stockmans (one with spey and one with pen), Texas jack, trapper, large stockman, and canoe. All great patterns.

I will say that I like the Case Jigged Amber Bone covers and as has been said, they are quite popular. Case also does Saw Cut Amber Bone.

I guess the top three are: Yellow Delrin, Red Bone, and Amber Jigged bone.
I'll leave it up to everyone else to put them in some kind of order.
Luckily I have all three in my collection.

From the newer offerings, chestnut and amber bone, also yellow delrin.

From the old offerings, red and greenbone and rough or smooth black.
